Most travellers to Aruba spend their
time in the resort areas between
Eagle and Palm beaches or in the
capital of Oranjestad , where
the casinos and shop-filled streets
are the main diversions. Those
interested in natural attractions
head to Arikok National Park
to explore its arid landscape and
rugged coastline. West of the park
finds interesting rock formations at
Casibari and Ayσ along
with the nearby Bushiribana Gold
Ruins and much-photographed
Natural Bridge .
Divers and snorkellers flock to
Bonaire to surround themselves with
colourful marine life at the
Bonaire Marine Park and Klein
Bonaire on the western side of
the island. Unique to the ABCs, the
island is also home to a large
number of pink flamingos that
are mostly concentrated around the
colourful saltpans in the
south. In the far north, hiking
enthusiasts should make for
Washington-Slagbaai National Park
.
Not to be missed on Curaηao is
lively Willemstad , whose
pristine Dutch colonial architecture
has earned it the designation of a
UNESCO World Heritage Site, and
whose cultural and historical
attractions hold much of interest.
Most of the best beaches are
in the northwest, not far from
Christoffel National Park ,
which boasts a variety of flora and
fauna and good hiking trails. For
something different, take a guided
tour of the limestone Hato Caves
or visit the plantation houses
scattered about the island.
