Your daily budget in the Caribbean depends, of course, on where you are travelling and how comfortable you want to be. The cheapest destinations are likely to be Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic, where you can get by sleeping in the cheapest accommodation, travelling by bus and eating food from street stalls and supermarkets on about US$30/day, possibly less. A couple of other islands, such as Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago can be visited on around US$50/day, or US$100/day with a little luxury; however, most Caribbean islands will be around US$125/day, with a few - such as Bonaire - setting you back US$150/day or more. Remember that incidentals such as car rental, room and departure tax, local driving permits and guides - never mind island-hopping, whale watching, fancy dinners or scuba diving - really add up but are some of the most enjoyable facets of a Caribbean holiday.
