The southwest corner of the island is home to Grenada's most popular beaches. Only two miles from St George's is the king of them all, Grand Anse , whose long curve of immaculate white sands is frequented by locals and visitors alike. Further south and separated by the headland of Quarantine Point, formerly a leper colony, is the secluded Morne Rouge Bay . A favourite among wealthy tourists, the beach is excellent for swimming and it's also a popular place to snorkel. Continuing south beyond the airport are several smaller beaches and Lance Aux Épines , a peninsula at Grenada's southernmost point dotted with many luxury homes. Prickly Bay on the peninsula's west side is a popular anchorage for yachts and home to a good-sized palm-fringed beach where watersports are abundant. Mount Hartman Bay on the eastern side may lack beaches, but has no shortage of stunning views over the island's south coast. Be aware that, while some visitors to these beaches do sunbathe topless, this practice is not permitted anywhere on the island.
